Clothing Review – Sookie Baby

I was invited to write a review by the Vancouver Mom network for a Canadian baby clothing company, Sookie Baby.

Sookie Baby is a Montreal-based company specializing in themed baby clothing, such as baby punk and rocker styles. Their line includes onesies, bibs, hats, booties and blankets.

For review, I received an outfit consisting of a onesie and a hat. The cotton in the onesie was thicker than most on the market – it felt nice and sturdy. The design is rich black with a print of a guitar with wings on the front. Their skull design is adorable, too.

I gave it a wash in baby detergent before putting it on Little Patch the next day. The 6-12 month size seemed like a tight but comfortable fit for a 14 pound, five-month-old baby. The flap with snaps that covers the diaper area could be bigger to accommodate two-step cloth diapers, and even with a thin disposable diaper, the bum area felt a bit snug. By the end of the day, the black fabric was showing more traces of dust than another colour would have.

The matching cap is perfect with the edges folded upwards. It fits nicely without leaving too much space between the head and the top of the cap. The cotton cap didn’t feel too hot, and is great for strolls to the park.

I received some comments that the guitar print on both shirt and cap would look better in a bigger and more noticeable print. My husband joked the small print is like whispering “I’m a cool baby” but a bigger design yells “I’m a COOL baby!” I hope to see some bolder prints and colours in the future.

Overall, I would give Sookie Baby’s outfit a thumbs up for the durable and comfortable materials.
